Rush’s Florist was founded by Addie Butler Rush in 1944. After opening a beauty shop, named Ambritt’s, Mrs. Rush felt an urge to expand her creativity to something more. She later became a millinery artist and a cake decorator. Rush’s Florist was housed in the back of her beauty shop at her home, 550 South Main Street in Sumter, South Carolina. After her retirement, Mrs. Rush’s daughter, Dorothy Rush Palmer, became the primary manager and designer. Mrs. Palmer changed the name to Rush’s Florist and Gift Shop, thereby expanding services that were offered. Currently, Rush’s Florist and Gift Shop is housed at 123 Broad Street (Rear of the building) in Sumter, South Carolina. Our mantra is:s Faith-Family-Flowers.
